From Baltimore: Drive south on I-95. Take Exit 4A, which is Route 1 South / Route 7 South / Christiana Mall Road. From there follow Route 1 South until you are in Dewey. (Note: Delaware Route 1 IS NOT the same as the Route 1 that goes through Baltimore, Philadelphia, Trenton, etc.) Route 1 shares the roadbed with Route 13 and Route 113 at times so you will merge with and split from them several times. Always defer to Route 1. It's faster (65 MPH), it's newer (parts are brand new this year) and it's the road that goes through Dewey. Delaware wants you to go to their beaches so the road signs point you toward the "shore points" if there is ever a question. There are two $1 tolls along the way, which use the EZPass system.

From the Washington Area: US 50 East across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Left on to MD 404 East at light about 18 miles from the bridge. Left onto DE 16 East at light about 7 miles past Denton. Right onto DE 1 South at light to Dewey Beach.
